I'm sure you guys have already heard, but in case you haven't, about 2 years ago, a YouTuber from Scotland named Markus Meechan who goes by the alias "Count Dankula" uploaded a video of him teaching his girlfriend's pug to respond to Nazi slogans like "gas the Jews" and to put his paw up in response to someone saying "Sieg Heil".  Now I know you're probably disgusted with hearing this but he did mention at the end that he is not racist, he just did this as a joke to annoy his girlfriend.  Fair enough, right?  Well apparently that's not enough in Scotland or anywhere in the UK because Dank was arrested a few weeks later by the police.  Yes, you can actually get arrested for this shit over there.  A suspension from YouTube and some criticism should probably have been punishment enough, but the authorities actually felt threatened by this guy who, to my understanding, only had about 10 subscribers when the video was made but it went viral on Reddit and the police found out.  A few days ago, he was convicted and his sentence will be decided in April.

Now, let me just say at the offset that I am totally not cool with Nazism or bigotry in general, I don't think there are many on this site who are, but this is absolutely fucking ridiculous.  Yes, the video was stupid and immature, I'm sure Dank realizes that and he is known for being a "shit-poster", but arresting someone for this is taking it way too far.  Again, if people make jokes like this, they should expect backlash, but what Dank did is in NO WAY going to be a threat to anyone's well-being.

I heard that his trial wasn't even fair.  They didn't have a jury.  I don't know if juries are a thing over in the UK that much but this is total authoritarianism.  I just went to jury selection the other day, and even though I wasn't selected and therefore didn't have to serve, I would have loved to have served in a case like this.  Of course, let's be honest, if Dank was American, he wouldn't have been arrested to begin with.  We have free speech in America and yes, it does protect this kind of thing.  I know you might think that is stupid but think of this: if the government tells you that you can't say hateful things, what is to stop them from saying you can't say anything else?  What's to stop them from arresting you for critiquing how they handle your country?  Wanna know who else wasn't a fan of freedom of speech?  HITLER.  Oooooh the irony.

So congratulations UK, you've made a random shit-poster have more credibility than you.  It's in times like this when people like Count Dankula become the philosophers of our time and the government harkens back to Nazi Germany.  You people keep this up and it WILL be Nazi Germany all over again.  Limiting people's speech to keep them from saying something you don't like is just one of the many aspects of Nazism or fascism.

And if you didn't think it could get any more idiotic, recently there was some huge scandal with revelations of sexual grooming coming from tons of UK politicians and yet one guy teaching his dog some tricks catches the attention of the cops instead of this.  Don't even get me started on how much politicians in the UK and many other European countries are ignoring the problems mass immigration is causing.  Nope, none of that matters, just people shit-posting online are the real existential threat to our country.  Let's forget about real problems that can get people killed or raped and focus more on something that can be so easily ignored and just written off as typical internet behavior.

Well I dont' need to say much more, I'm sure you guys have already made up your mind.  I do hope Dank doesn't get too harsh of a sentence and I hope that this starts something big that will cause the UK to move to ban these flimsy "hate speech" laws.  I feel bad that I have to talk about this, the UK sounds like a fun place to visit, but with how badly the politicians have been handling things lately, I fear for this country and all my friends who live there.  If you live in the UK, please remember that your freedom is important.  Stand up for yourself and don't let the government tell you how to live your life.
