EDIT:  Just so you guys know, it is a possibility that Hasbro didn't know about this take-down and it could have just been an automatic thing that happened on YouTube.  The real people to blame are those who constantly uphold the rather unfair copyright laws in the US which really need to be rewritten to begin with.  You all cal stop acting like idiots and making death threats to Hasbro now.  No I'm serious, cut the crap.  :iconwthplz:

Well apparently Hasbro filed a DMCA claim and had YouTube remove the "Friendship is Witchcraft" parody series by SherclopPones on YouTube.  Now while I have not seen FiW yet, I am very much aware of it's following and it seems a lot of fans liked this series so it's sad that it had to go.

It really confuses me why Hasbro would do this though.  First of all, it's a parody so wouldn't that fall under fair use?  The series kinda promotes the show itself so Hasbro isn't helping when they threaten to take it down.  And how can they possibly take away FiW yet keep very adult-oriented fan-made media on YouTube like the Cupcakes animations or the .MOV series?  Is it because those are original animations with more original content but FiW had actual footage from the show?  That could be the reason but I still don't see how FiW was an infringement of copyright.  And the even bigger question is: why did they allow FiW to be screened at one of the brony conventions last year and then all of a sudden turn on us and take the entire series down from YouTube?

I just don't get it.  I mean I'm not hellbent on watching FiW and loving it as much as the show but I don't really see what the problem was with it existing in the first place.  I mean those kinds of fan-parodies are all over the place and I never see them getting taken down.  It's not so much the fact that FiW is gone, just the fact that Hasbro took it down.  Who knows what they might take away from us next...

There was also another DMCA takedown notice for the Equestria Girls website but that is understandable because they just recently got that term copyrighted.  Friendship is Witchcraft, however, I will never understand why that was taken down.

Understand me now, I don't hate Hasbro, I love them very much for bringing us this awesome show, (and any hate comments about them in the comments will not be tolerated) but it's sad whenever a company you trust very much goes all Viacom on you and treads on your rights like this...

Actually, Hasbro is the most restrictive than Viacom (such as WMG, UMG, Warner Bros. and more enemy companies then filed to bogus DMCA) But I really hate that copyright laws and I don't care about the anti-piracy alot like that. Then, I'm sticking for alternatives, open sources, Creative Commons or even Public Domain.
