TWILIGHT IS GOING TO BECOME AN ALICORN PRINCESS!!!
[link]What? Oh come on guys, it's not that big of a deal! I actually have sometimes expected something like this would happen! If anyone deserves it, it's definitely Twilight. I mean she's gifted, she's smart, she's been training under Princess Celestia for quite some time now, she's the Element of Magic, I'd say she's more eligible than anyone else!
And don't give me any of this "Durrrhurr, Twilight's a Mary Sue now!" crap because you don't know that yet. Megan McCarthy has specifically stated that Twilight's personality will not change therefore she can't become a 'Mary Sue' character. Alicorn's aren't Mary Sue's anyhow, you can't just assume that because they have great powers. We've only seen 3 alicorns in the show so far and none of them are Mary Sue's, they have their flaws and weaknesses and junk and they are well-balanced and there is nothing you can say or do to disprove that.
This doesn't make me hate the show one bit. If anything, this gets me more excited for season 4! We should all be expecting big changes like this to happen in the show anyhow. It's good that the writers wanted this sort of change because a lot of kids shows tend to be too static and repetitive and go on and on throughout each season with the same plots and stuff. This will change how the show works I'm sure and don't forget this is DHX we are talking about; they know what they are doing.
Just please don't whine and complain about. It's one thing to be a bit disappointed or worried, but it's another thing to just go out and rant and rave about how stupid it is in ever corner of the internet and it's NOTHING to quit being a brony over so CHILL!! And again, if Twilight still has her personality, that won't ruin anything. She'll still be the same Twilight we all know and love, she's just got wings now and a whole lot of pony princess swag.
Firstly, I've read the EW page that talked about the season finale. And I only read about Twilight, not Fluttershy, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash. Not one word about any of them. What I'm saying is that I'm worried about the other mane six and worried that the next season will only focus on Twilight since she's a princess now.
Then there's the concept of a regular pony just turning into an alicorn. I know that I might be nitpicking, but this bugs me because it feels like an ass-pull to me. We've never heard anything in the series about that ponies, whether they be earth, pegasus, or unicorn, can turn into alicorns. And that begs the question, is it only unicorns that can turn into alicorns? Can the earth and pegasus ponies do something that can turn them into alicorns? And also, I'm really irritated that Twilight turned into an alicorn because she wasn't part of the Royal Family. Yeah, I get that she's somewhat royalty in her family, but she has no direct family connections with the princess. I don't care how many heroic deeds you've done, you do not turn into a prince or a princess because of it. Think about it, has anyone in our history ever turned into a royal because of their heroism? I really doubt that. I really hope that the alicorn thing is temporary in the next season...
Anyway, like I said, I don't want to pick a fight with anyone. I'm just a guy expressing his opinion. I'll give it a chance and watch season 4, but I'm still worried... :/
Also, I'm not sure if I liked that they revealed it so early; I would have liked being surprised with the Twilicorn thing, but also I think that things will settle down by the time the episode airs...
And I heard something interesting from Trinityinyang's journal that Hasbro maybe coming out with a new line of pony dolls under the trademark Equestria Girls with clothes and other accessories. And apparently some people are fretting over whether or not these will be humanized or anthro pony dolls.
Oh, and they'll also be airing season 3 of Transformers: Prime this spring.
