Yesterday I gave my little review thingy on the season 3 premier of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.  Well today I'm going to review another show from the Hub which has yet again broken the stereotypes for kids shows that are based on a toyline of "kid only" toys:

Littlest Pet Shop!

That's right folks, this is a fantastic show and although pretty much no one can beat the ponies (just my honest opinion), this show has certainly brought itself to a level of quality entertainment!  Just like MLP, there's fantastic voice work, great writing, catchy songs, good humor, and a very interesting style of animation.  Its' done with flash animation and yes, DHX makes this show which is no wonder it is so good.  DHX is really going up in the world it seems!.

As for the characters:

Blythe Baxter, the main girl, is a pretty down-to-earth and laidback girl although she seems to freak out a lot in the pilot due to the fact that her dad is a terrible driver and she's also having a hard time dealing with the fact that she can talk to animals.  But she seems to warm up to everything after the first episode and she does a great job of saving the Littlest Pet Shop (huge title drop).  I also find it awesome how she's not only voiced by Ashleigh Ball (the voice of Rainbow Dash) but she actually SOUNDS so much like Dash, epecially when she yells.  And she seems to apparently be okay with breaking her own guitar by accident......what?  O_o

Zoe Trent to dog, voiced by Nicole Oliver (Princess Celestia and Cheerilee), may look like Twilight Sparkle but she actually acts more like Rarity.  She's kind of a diva and seems to show off a bit but she's friendly and she's very talented at singing!  She's also got rather good hearing.

Penny Ling the panda, voiced by Jocelyn Loewen, is probably the cutest of the bunch and I'm guessing she's the youngest since she is the only animal that doesn't appear to be full-grown yet.  She could very well be a baby panda.  She seems to be kinda misunderstood and ignored sometimes but like I said, she's cute and really light-hearted and loves dancing with those twirly ribbon things.

Vinny Terrio, the gecko voiced by Kyle Rideout, is probably easily one of my favorites although it's hard to pick and choose.  He's like the Michael Jackson of the group (and he actually dresses and dances like him at the fashion show) and loves dancing all the time.  He's a bit clumsy and not very bright but he's still funny.

Minka Mark the monkey, voiced by Kira Tozer, is seriously the Pinkie Pie of the group.  She's pink and full of constant energy and loves to paint and make art.  Just like Pinkie, she is easily distracted and loves shiny objects but she's really cute and silly.

Pepper Clark the skunk, voiced by Tabitha St. Germain (voice of Rarity and a plethora of other characters from MLPFIM) is the comedian of the group.  She's got a good sense of humor and loves telling jokes and stuff.  And apparently she can make a smell that actually smells good as seen in the end of the pilot unlike actual skunks.  Oh how I wish cartoons could be real sometimes.

Sunil Nevla the mongoose, voiced by Peter New (Big Macintosh) is the magician of the group although he has some working to do on his magic it seems.  I love his accent and he seems kinda worrisome and clumsy but he comes through as another one of my favs.

Russell Ferguson the porcupine hedgehog, voiced by Sam Vincent, is actually the one who is more like Twilight in my opinion.  He's organized and kinda uptight and is almost like the leader of the group with all his checklists and junk.  Being another favorite, he's cute and kinda feisty and he saved the day at the end when the Biscuit twins nearly ruined it.

Speaking of the Biscuit twins, those 2 are the perfect definition of mean!  They are.....LIKE, TOTALLY MEAN!  Their dad is the owner of the Largest Ever Pet Shop (a total cop-out of Littlest Pet Shop if you'd ask me) the place where life is miserable for pets apparently.  They were really annoying and jerky but them being the villains saves the show from being ruined by them at least.  They were pretty nasty to Blythe but they got what they deserved in the end.  Oh, and they're both voiced by Shanon Chan-Kent who does the singing voice of Pinkie Pie which I find to be rather hilarious.

Mrs. Twombly, voiced by Kathleen Barr (Trixie and Queen Chrysalis) is the owner of the Littlest Pet Shop and an awfully nice lady.  She's a friendly supportive character and seems to have a thing for animals but it surprises me that she can't talk to them like Blythe can.

There's also Blythe's dad, Roger Baxter, voiced by Michael Kopsa, who we don't see too much of but at the same time we see plenty of in the pilot.  He really loves his daughter but embarrasses her a lot.  He's also an awful driver and can cause more whole-sale property damage than Jason Borne.  Kinda ironic how his day job is piloting airplanes...

There are also Blythe's friends who I can't really say much about yet since I haven't seen enough to tell but they are funny and are very good friends to Blythe unlike the Biscuit twins.

Well I'm not going to tell the plot of the pilot episodes to keep it from being spoiled so you guys will have to see it yourself.  These links take you to part 1 and part 2, I'm just sorry we haven't gotten any high-quality ones yet:

Once again, this show is great and is showing an improvement in the animation industry and kicks all little kid stereotypes to the curb.  Try it out and tell me what you think!  :D

I do enjoy this show. Not as much as MLP, but it is growing on me. My fav characters are Sunil and Penny. Sunil because of his accent, which kinda makes him sound like Raj from Big Bang Theory, and Penny because she is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!
