Ok, can anyone tell me right now how putting a bunch of memes in a fan animation is even the least bit ‘controversial’?

To be honest when I saw the first half of Double Rainboom at Cloudsdale Congress back in March 2013 (yeah, that’s right, I was one of the first to see it, in yo faces!) I laughed hysterically at all the little gags and references they threw in there and I can speak for tons of other people who were laughing with me!  No one got all angry or upset about that and this one guy went in front of the crew and jokingly bowed down to them like he was worshiping a false idol after the screening so I can say from experience that we found it to be anything but controversial.

No offense to any of the EqD crew or anyone who follows them but this is extremely poor wording.  Granted a bunch of people were somehow irritated by all the memes but people will get irritated by and freak out over really little things these days.  I know it seems like it’s rampant in this fandom but I think there really are plenty of people who actually enjoyed it, they just don’t seem to have as big of a voice.  This fandom over-saturates itself with overly sensitive critics and all-around jerks who take any opportunity just to criticize things harshly at the drop of a hat just so they can look all smart and get more followers and now I think it’s rubbing off on some people.   I could be wrong but I get the feeling Sethisto here says that the use of memes is “controversial” only to appease to such people.  Although Double Rainboom was not a perfect animation and probably could have been handled better in many instances, let me remind you people that it is a FANMADE animation, therefore you should expect those sorts of things!  All the other animators do it and they never get any of this crap so I dont’ know why people are attacking Zachary Rich for his animation.  A better term to use would probably be “Although it contained a little too much memes…” or maybe perhaps “Overdone use of memes aside…” because if you say it was controversial, then by those standards ALL the pony fan animations are controversial.

It really is amazing how badly people misuse the word “controversial” this day and age for the littlest of things and it isn’t only common in the brony fandom.  The memes and references in that animation were in no way meant to offend anyone directly so they are not controversial, they just might have annoyed some people.  Being annoyed and being offended are not the same thing.  I urge you, Sethisto, or any other bloggers out there to be careful about what you say about it, cuz this is just milking the negative side of the fandom with all the whiny bronies standing on a pedestal and making one-sided rants about things just to get attention.

Again, this is just my two cents.  I’m not attacking EqD or Sethisto or anyone out there who has said the same thing, I just think I needed to bring this to people’s attention as it has been a rather common issue I’ve observed in the past few months.  k bye

Odd...

Speaking of which, did you hear about the makers of DR making a new, non-MLP project that will be presented on YouTube this year? It's called True Tail.
