Well I'm late again. Sorry guys, but I don't like doing it too soon afterwards cuz I prefer to have seen the episode three or four times so I can know well what it is I'm reviewing unlike other people. I'm not as good at these reviews as I used to be either so I'll be glad once this season is done so I can take a rest finally...
Anyways, onto the episode review:
Discord turns good?! Well I certainly wasn't expecting that! I thought for sure it would end up like it did in Spongebob with Plankton and he would fake it and then just go back to being evil. Although, then he'd be turned to stone again and things would get repetitive in this show. I miss the villainous Discord but I think now he'll be more like an antihero: neither good nor bad, just kind of a neutral trickster dude. I was kinda hoping to see him stay a villain because I thought he made such a good villain and I did actually have some good ideas for fanfics with him as the main villain. Plus, there goes my hope of seeing him be the main villain of a big theatrical film for the show one day. But we do have "Journey of the Spark" for that even if it is a fanmade film and there are always other villains like Queen Chrysalis and King Sombra (if he still lives). And Celestia said she would leave the elements with Twilight "just in case." and Discord said he would be good "...most of the time." so you gotta wonder what might happen to Discord next. I'm sure he really is going to stray away from doing evil things now though because it would be kinda stupid to have him just go back to being evil unless he's under control of someone else or something. Well, despite the fact that I liked him as a villain, him being good now is canon and we'll all have to roll with that. It is a shame thought that so many fanfics and animations and comics and stuff have been ruined by this but it's no big deal, we fans can still do our own little non-canon spin-offs if we so please.
Although, I would like to point a little something out: did you guys notice how Discord looked a little different in his stone form than how he did in the end of Return of Harmony Part 2? His head was turned to the front and he was looking in the behind direction. It's almost like there is a possibility of untold part of this show where he breaks free from stone and has another takeover and has to be defeated again and the next and third time he was turned to stone, he was in the same position but with his head facing forward and looking back. Very peculiar......... Well, I can now say that that actually might allow some of us writers to work around it and still keep some of our projects...
Alright, well besides the whole thing of Discord turning good, let's talk about Discord himself in this episode: pure genius! The same Discord we all know and love! Using his powers of chaos to do silly random things, dressing up in like 7 different outfits throughout the whole episode, turning into a carrot (his tooth), making a lamp of himself, eating paper, turning the woodland creatures evil, the list goes on! He hasn't really changed much in terms of his personality and even though he's good now, I think we'll still get a little silly chaos from him every now and then. With the amount of power he has, he will be a pretty big help to the ponies.

And I could see Discord turning good in the show eventually, I just didn't think it would happen this quickly so there's one thing I saw coming. He has always had a bit of a good side to him so this all makes sense. He did learn his lesson at the end and it seems he now sees how important friendship really is and that's a pretty good ending if you'd ask me.
Now onto Fluttershy. She sure has gotten better recognition after this episode! She really knew what she was doing with Discord and she was pretty smart with how to handle him and that ended up turning him good. I thought she wouldn't actually allow him to use any chaos and she would try to get him to stop but she knew that his chaos wasn't the problem, it was his attitude that needed adjusting and he needed a friend to see how important friendship is so that he would turn good and side with Princess Celestia finally. Some might say Fluttershy is too kind for her own good but I'd say it saved a lot of us this time and it really paid off in the end.

She could have been assertive with him and forced to turn him to stone with the elements but that would have probably just antagonized him and only cause him to want to go back to being evil all over again. She stayed true to her word though and never used the element and once she told Discord she wasn't his friend anymore if he wouldn't turn things back to normal, he realized he was losing the only friend he ever made and decided to just do the right thing for once. This makes me love Fluttershy as a character even more now and I hope a lot of you think the same.

As for the other characters, they were good here, they stayed in character, but we did see the contrast of them and how more assertive they were than Fluttershy but it was because they wanted to play safe yet they didn't see that being nice was the only way to get Discord to be fully reformed. Fluttershy seemed smart than them this time around but they weren't necessarily being stupid, just trying to be safe just in case the worst could happen. Otherwise they were all in character: Twilight being the smart one with a backup plan ready, Rarity being the diva she always is, Pinkie being random, AJ being the tough one, and Dashie being the first to accuse Discord of being up to something (even though she was right all along). And I was glad that Spike was in this episode a lot, not just in the beginning. He was at the dinner party, and he was at the end and tried to get Fluttershy to put her element necklace back on. And this weekend he'll have his own episode so yay!

Other things to talk about that I enjoyed: it was funny to see Discord break the 4th wall when he turned the beavers evil and was like "Oopsie" to us.

And like I said, all the random things he did cracked me up and just made me say "Hehe, that's Discord for ya!" It's also interesting how calm Celestia was so calm about this whole thing.....almost like she knew all along that he could be turned good. She had a lot of faith in Fluttershy and she sure was right in the end! Although, I am wondering............what is it that she needs Discord's powers for?

Well, that question may be answered soon my friends!
Now like I said, this episode luckily didn't ruin my fanfic save one minor little thing and I know a lot of you might want me to talk about that but this entry is getting too long and some of you might not care so I'll make that a separate entry later today. For now, I hope you all enjoyed my review. Tell me what you thought in the comments but please, BE NICE!!!
the way they releasing discord to me look like they are using the carebears stare, its nice to see even villians needs friends
A fiend actually pointed out to me that it makes sense Fluttershy was the only pony who could change him since she was the only one he had to directly attack to corrupt in his first episodes.
I'm thinking there's a bigger evil lurking around Ponyville/Equestria and Celestia is getting ready for...WAR! Ok maybe that extreme, but it appears she's not taking so many chances with horseland security these days (and yes that pun is intended)
Maybe the CMC broke the statue and put the head back wrong...
Also, many are saying that the end of the episode was very rushed, and/or that the episode could have been easily made into a 2 parter... what's your opinion about that?
