Young Luna

This is what I envision Luna as when she was young. This will be used for profiles for my upcoming fanfic project, "Age of the Alicorns: Chaos Rising".


Below is a brief description of the character:

Princess Luna is the younger of the two royal sisters. Luna's special magic power is to move the moon for giving light at nighttime in Equestria. She learned this ability with help from her mother, Queen Chernalia, and her instructor, Starswirl the Bearded. She just recently received her cutie mark when she was brought to the edge of the eastern shore with Celestia and brought up the moon for the first time. Being the princess of the night, her element is 'darkness' so she can make things dark and ominous around her even during the brightest days. She is also capable of controlling the clouds and wind and making them darken to form lightning which she can also control and direct at her will. Her magic blasts aren't quite as powerful as Celestia's, but they emit a somewhat sparkly light which resembles the stars. When she uses her powers, her body does not glow with light, instead her hair and body are enveloped in a dark, cloudy substance and her eyes glow with light. She developed these abilities on her own to frighten her adversaries despite her parents advising her to act more civilized. Her powers make her appear to be evil, but this hides the fact that she is actually very innocent and loving.

Luna is much like her sister in being that she is sweet and kind and very thoughtful of her people, but she is much more feistier and quick to anger even over small things. She is still young and very small, but she is not afraid to use her powers to scare off anyone who threatens her or her friends. Even so, she is adorable and playful making her very likable. Unlike Celestia, Luna is very determined to become a leader and does not expect there will be much problems, although she will soon realize that there is more to leading a country than one expects. Luna speaks regularly around her family and friends, but has a habit of talking very loudly using the "Royal Everfree Voice" when threatened or trying to look powerful to her people.

So there is Luna. I had fun developing her personality, especially with the way she was portrayed in "Luna Eclipsed". I knew I had to make her feisty and energetic and of course it was an absolute MUST to use the Royal Canterlot Voice.........well, now it's just Royal Everfree Voice, Canterlot hasn't been founded yet.

And her design is somewhat based off of how her hair looks in the show after she was released from Nightmare Moon so it's kind of an official thing. Her crown and wavy night-sky mane will come later in the fanfic.
