Percy and Penny

It's time for another character profile submission for my upcoming fanfiction project, Age of the Alicorns: Chaos Rising. This time, two characters I came up with completely on my own to go along with the story: Percy and Penny the dragon siblings.

Here is a brief description of the characters:


Percy and Penny were left by their parents a long time ago and brought up as orphans in the royal Equestrian Palace when Percy arrived with his newborn sister one cold winter night. King Solmidas and Queen Chernalia raised them like their own children and watched after them lovingly. As they grew up, they decided to take part in the every-day activities at the palace. Percy is a part time messenger and attendant for the royal family and Penny is training to do the same and is still in schooling.

Percy (short for Perseus) is the older of the two and is a teenage dragon who is a bit older than Celestia. He has his wings fully grown out and is able to fly rather well. He can also breath fire although he tries not to unless he is lighting torches for fear he may scare or hurt someone else. After having been left behind by his parents as a child, he feels a strong sense of protection for his little sister and never leaves her side unless he has an assignment to run errands. He is somewhat shy and introverted but always has something to say when he feels the need to. He is also a bit clumsy and somewhat easily scared, even for a dragon but he is brave deep down. Although most ponies believe that dragons should be fearsome creatures, Percy thinks there should be more dragons that live in peace with the ponies. Sadly, he and his sister are the only two known dragons who anypony has contact with in the kingdom on a regular basis. But Percy prefers the quiet life with the ponies anyhow, he is actually a bit scared of older dragons because of the fact that his parents left him.

Penny (short for Penelope) is the younger of the two and a bit younger than Luna. She is a baby dragon so her wings have not grown in just yet but she can breathe just enough fire. Penny never knew her parents like Percy did so she sees the King and Queen as her parents and Celestia and Luna as her sisters. She knows she was left at birth by her parents, but since she wasn't aware at the time being, she doesn't really take it as hard as her older brother. She's very cheery and energetic and loves having fun. She can also be a bit feisty and hotheaded and is protective of Percy even though he is older than she is. Just because she is small and is a girl doesn't mean she is weak. She also believes more dragons should live with the ponies, but unlike her brother, she believes there are some full-grown dragons out there who are closer than anypony thinks and they are nice enough to come and live with them.


So that is Percy and Penny for you guys. They are basically OCs although I'm using them for a story with some canon characters (or half-canon in Solmidas and Chernalia's cases) and that will probably be it. I put them in the story mainly to add some humor and more young characters to go along with Celestia and Luna and 'expand' the family a bit. They're supportive characters who will add some comic relief. They won't have uber importance to the plot but they will be in the story plenty of times so don't worry.

Percy's design is pretty much just all made up but with some inspiration from other dragons in the show like the red dragon's spikes on his head. I can't say I used any of the teen dragons from "Dragon Quest" as reference or inspiration because I designed Percy before that episode aired. Penny is obviously meant to look like Spike mainly because she is also a baby dragon but her spikes are a bit different as well as her color. It was tough picking out colors for them but I knew I wanted Percy to be mainly blue while Penny was pink or reddish.
