Best sketch I ever made. And of course I made some obvious edits using color and stuff in Paint.net. Turned out beautiful though and I plan on doing more stuff like this in the near future. I still wish I had a scanner though, the quality of the sketch would be much better if it were scanned rather than a photo. But then again, that separation between light and dark in the pink background wouldn't have been there if it weren't a photo so it's alright.
But yes, here is Rarity in all her glory. It was supposed to just be a regular sketch that I would digitize later but it turned out to be a super duper good sketch. Maybe I will digitize it someday though and make a desktop out of it. I have also thought of doing other pics like this of the other Mane 6. What do you guys think?
Feel free to leave a critique below, and by critique, I don't mean "Wow, this is awesome!" it must be more involved than that or I won't approve it.
Also, special thanks to for being an inspiration with this style.
This is really good work. The details of her mane and tail are quite well done. The shading and highlighting really gives you a good sense of their texture.
Now that I know you're probably going to make these into a series, I expect that you intend to make all the poses, more or less, just like this one. For the record, I like how you mixed it up just a bit by having Rarity's legs in alternating positions. It keeps it a little more interesting. However, her right hind leg looks a bit too forward for how out to the side it is. I would angle her leg so that her right hoof lands closer to her body, which would make it disappear behind her left hind-hoof, but it would be more posturally sound, in my opinion.
I like how soft the shading is here. The simple black-grey works well because she has a white coat to begin with. I might try to add some shading on her face a bit, especially around her ear and eyelid. Her face currently seems a bit flat compared to the rest of her body.
Still, overall a very great job here. I love that mane and tail to death.
