The odd thing is that I have had her tail and mane done for over a month now but I had trouble finding a good Dash body. I didn't want to use the body of that old custom cuz it was too beaten up and the new one I found was to greyish and discolored so I used it for my young Celestia custom. Well now I'm glad I waited that long cuz I FINALLY found a Rainbow Dash with better eyes as you can see! It was a crystal pony though so I had to repaint her eyes a bit which wasn't too difficult.
As for the mane and tail, man were they hard to paint!!! I've never had to paint a mane and tail so carefully and precisely! I've always said how she's the hardest to draw and well now she's the hardest to paint a custom mane and tail of! But at least it's done.
Overall I do like how she turned out and now I have the Mane 6 back again.
And before anyone asks, I used Sculpey III oven-bake clay for the mane and tail, painted them with Apple Barrel acrylics, and sealed them with Mod Podge.
I'm not a premium member. But I can critique in my own fashion.
It's very clean work. No edge smudge on painted areas where mating to the toy.(overall very clean surfaces) The sculpt is flowing and smooth. The paint is well executed and precise(precision lines are always a real problem and this being a mane and tail, this is pretty darn good) . Colors are a good representation of R.D. The balance of the sculpts is very good. Mane and tail are not over/under sized. So for a "JOY" rating (since I can't give you the five stars) you get 5 out of five "JOYS".
(The one thing I see is that you did not sweep the mane to both sides of the head as seen in so many market toys. I did not put this in my critique due to the "Originality" clause. This is your idea of R.D. and it shows very nicely!) Have fun!
