Full page of my Cheerilee custom with sculpted hair.
I removed her hair with some scissors, but I also used an exacto knife which I highly recommend, just be sure to cut away from yourself. I also used a real electric shaver but I wouldn't recommend that. Once it was all cut off, I sculpted the hair and put it on her head and butt and then baked her with the CMC and voila! Wasn't too hard to do her, I just used 3 snakes of clay, 2 pink and 1 lighter pink for both the tail and mane and just put them all together, no big weenie. I do like how she turned out, it's just a shame her cutie mark isn't show accurate. I haven't given her another cutie mark yet, but I am considering painting some on to my customs someday...
Remember that it IS safe to bake a pony in the oven, but it must be for 15 minutes at 275 degrees Fahrenheit. And when they come out, they won't melt, but they'll be pretty flimsy and gooey so let them cool off. I recommend sticking them in the fridge for a few minutes or in front of a fan.
So I hope you guys like it, and the CMC are all coming up next!
This is an excellent custom figure of Cheerilee, looks far better then the retail version, much more accurate to the show.
It looks absolutely gorgeous, the hair is extremely well sculpted. It looks show accurate, but I will admit it could be closer. Otherwise, the teacher is looking good.
It is extremely original, as all customs should be. There's not much I can add to this because all customs are original works, customized to be your own.
You've displayed some of the best technique I've seen on an MLP custom. You took your sweet time with it and made sure you got it right the first time. You get the full bar for that.
Most bronies love custom figures. The ones I've seen that do not are few and far between. So it should have a resounding, positive impact when it makes it on EQD (and yes, I did say when. Why wouldn't they accept it?)
It's overall well made and perfect as a display piece. It has show accuracy in color and design, including the cutie mark, so I'm really impressed. On to the CMC critiques!
Personally, i like the way you did it instead of buying hair and re-hairing the ponies. This seems like a better idea and takes less time to do. Im going to use your idea. like i said, it seems better.
Well, I guess it takes more time actually, you just gotta be good with sculpting is all. And feel free to try it out, this is a fun hobby! Sculpey costs about $12ish on average and it's definitely worth it!
Oh Man. I'm good at sculpting figures. Hair for the ponies should be a breeze compaired to what i've done in the past. I made a Fluttershy figure from sculpey, but, to bad my dog got it and chewed on it. >.< But, I like this way. Very smart. Besides, you don't have to worry about the hair getting everywhere and get frustrated. So, Im going your route and doing this way. Hell. I already got sculpey somewhere in my house. Might do this sometime over the week once I find it.
Yeah, they are a bit more fragile once it's been done, but sealing the hair with Mod Podge might protect it enough. It sure worked good on my Discord sculpture.
