Commission: Will he live? by AleximusPrime Commission: Will he live? by AleximusPrime
Commission for quodfuero

He asked for a pony crossover of a scene from the book, "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.  In this scene, Ebeneezer Scrooge is concerned about Bob Cratchit's son, Tiny Tim's, future as he is very sick and asks the Spirit of Christmas Present if he will make it.  Ironically, Scrooge forgets that he once wished death on Tiny Tim earlier in the book.

Quite a powerful scene from the story.  Not sure what connection Rarity has to Scrooge but Pinkie makes a perfect Spirit of Christmas Present.  :3

And interesting note; it's speculated that this scene is also an attack on the ideas of Thomas Malthus, who was one of the first to propose draconian population control measures.

Scrooge was condemning all the poor with those words.  The point of the scene is to drive home just how cruel he was being.

notice how it's in quotes.  Also read the description, Rarity's character said the same thing early in the book, Pinkie's character is just quoting them to state the irony and be a little sarcastic.

I didn't think of Christmas Carol at first glance.  I thought of Balto.  The scene where the little girl's got pneumonia or something.

Wooo!

I really like Rarity for Scrooge, because of the evolution of character, at the end becomes generous. Also, despite being the element of generosity Rarity could pull off a greedy posh character we've already seen it. To a certain extent I don't if the idea for this is alternate universe or if they are putting on a play like the Hearths warming eve pageant.  Incidentally, this is partly why I like Twi for Crachit, reprising a role as Rarity's put upon underling.

This is a really good picture Alex. To be fair, it reminds me of Batman: Noel except Pinkie saying that doesn't happen but Batman says it instead. And yeah, Superman in that story is the Ghost of Christmas Present. I blame Atop the Fourth Wall for it.

Anyway, this is a great picture though the connection to me with Rarity is that I believe she represents generosity. The opposite of it is greed and Scrooge before he changed was (forgive my language) a greedy bastard. Return of Harmony had Rarity be greedy caring for a huge diamond (named Tom) and I believe it's a good parallel.

Ironically, I had Rarity as Scrooge and Pinkie as the Ghost of Christmas Present in a fanmake of A Christmas Carol, only it's the Mickey Mouse version and Applejack and Apple Bloom are in the roles of Bob Crachit and Tiny Tim.
